New Zealand is a stunning part of the world, with a relatively small population of 4.693 million (2016)* and lots of wide open spaces.  Two islands make up the country, creatively named the North and South Islands.

Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman sea, it is a short 3 – 4 hour flight to Australia’s west coast and a 3 – 4 hour flight to tropical islands such as Samoa, Fiji and Rarotonga.

The demand for property in NZ is high, due to the laid-back lifestyle and being ranked the 2nd most peaceful country in the world according to the Global Peace Index 2017.

New Zealand has 3 official languages: English, Maori and NZ sign language.

The largest city in New Zealand is Auckland in the North Island with a population of 1,657,200 million people over the entire Auckland Region. Set on the Waitemata Harbour, the close proximity to both white and black sand beaches is a drawcard for Aucklanders who enjoy beach life, just on a bigger scale than your typical seaside township.

Wellington is the Capital city and the 2nd most populated region, with 412,500 residents.  Found at the bottom of the North Island, Wellington is a cultural hotspot, with the country’s largest museum, Te Papa.  It also boasts the iconic Beehive, where the NZ government go about their decision making.

Christchurch is the first major city found in the South Island.  396,700 residents make up the population.  Referred to as the Garden City, its beautiful parks, landmarks and long stretches of open plains make it visually stunning.

Dunedin is the South Islands largest city. With a strong tie to Scotland, the name Dunedin is Scottish Gaelic for Edinborough.  It is the home of Otago University, considered to be one of the most beautiful universities in the world; the Super 14 rugby team Otago Highlanders and for chocolate lovers, Cadbury Chocolate World.
